The alarm clock starts buzzing. You let out a groan, hit the snooze button, and roll back over. And then you might repeat that two or three more times. Sound familiar?

And isn’t it the same with our faith sometimes? We want so badly to get up, get focused, and lean into all the ways that God is at work around us. But we feel stuck, maybe even numb. Have you ever felt this way?

There is hope.

You may be stuck, but God isn’t. There isn’t a single moment that God is seeking you. He is actively pursuing you always, working in and around you, even when you are unaware. Maybe you aren’t seeing what it is that’s being done, but you are being transformed by God’s love at this very minute.

You are not alone. Alarm clocks wouldn’t have a snooze feature if you were the only one using it. Similarly, everyone goes through phases where they feel like they’re going through the motions and maybe don’t feel as close to God. Even the disciples had trouble living into their faith 24/7. They doubted, denied, and even slept on the job (Really, they did. Don’t believe us? Read more here).

Rest is encouraged! You may feel like you’re going nowhere in your faith, but sometimes it’s in that stillness that we end up finding God in the biggest ways.

You will wake up eventually. Just like when you hit the snooze button over and over again, you do wake up eventually. These phases don’t last forever. And sometimes, your faith comes out stronger on the other side.

So if you feel like you’re hitting the spiritual snooze button, don’t worry. Keep praying, even if it’s short. Keep seeking, even if it’s only a few minutes a day. Take your time. God is ready and waiting when you wake up.
