We all have ideas that we tell ourselves about God and how He works in our lives. Some are true- but many are not. This fall, Church of the Shepherd will take a journey together to discover the true path to spiritual formation by looking at who we think God is versus who Jesus says God is. We’ll be starting a new sermon series based off of the book, The Good and Beautiful God, by James Bryan Smith. This is more than just a sermon series, though. This is the introduction to our Relational Discipleship Pathway and a more meaningful life with Jesus. The series will launch September 9 and 10, and it’s a 100% weekend, so if you call Church of the Shepherd home, make plans to join us as we start this new journey!
Along with this sermon series, we’ll take a next step together to join small groups and learn more about who God is and how a personal relationship with Him can lead to transformation in our lives. Through group discussion, scripture study, and spiritual practices, we’ll discover the narratives Jesus lived by, take a next step on the path to becoming His disciples, and grow in the knowledge of our good and beautiful God. Small groups are forming now for this study! If you would like help forming a group or finding an existing one, stop by the Resource Center in the church lobby throughout August to find out how to get connected. Groups are being offered on a variety of days, including during The Bridge, so come find the time and day that works for you. If you’re interested in leading a group, please join us on Sunday, August 27, for leader training from 12-2 pm.
